Implicit in the phrase "vertical search" is the promise that users of search engines will garner more of what they want and less of what they don't want. Vertical job search engines are no exception. A recent job search executed on SimplyHired.com, Indeed.com and Just-Posted.com produced some interesting, yet disparate results,. Using the search terms, "insurance specialist" (keywords), "Bakersfield" (city), "California" (state), these job search engines returned a mixed set of relevant and irrelevant jobs.
SimplyHired.com, unfortunately, deems "HVAC", "Electrician", and "Carpenter" to be relevant to the keywords "insurance specialist."

Indeed.com didn't fare any better. It returned "Electrical/Lighting Associate", "Garden Sales Associate", and "Flooring Sales Associate" as relevant to the keywords "insurance specialist."

Just-Posted.com, since its inception, has focused on developing proprietary technology that returns the best search results possible to enhance the user experience. Thus, users of its vertical job search engine will not be exposed to ridiculously irrelevant job search results.

"Raising-the-bar" of search engine relevance is not easy, and the Just-Posted.com team has the intellectual scars to prove it. Yet, if vertical job search is to live up to its promise - we, all, must do better.
